The Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team is delighted to announce the continuation of its strong relationship with Abarth. The Italian car manufacturer will be the Factory Yamaha Team’s Official Sponsor and Official Car Supplier for four years in a row.

The Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team is highly pleased to announce that Abarth will be the Official Sponsor and Official Car Supplier of the Yamaha Factory Racing team throughout the 2017 and 2018 FIM MotoGP World Championship season, extending their partnership to four consecutive years.

The renewed partnership underlines Abarth’s and Yamaha’s shared valuesof sportsmanship and a desire to excel in motorsport and exceed one’s own limits.

Following the third and final official IRTA pre-season test in Qatar a little less than two weeks ago, Valentino Rossi and Maverick Viñales are eager to start the upcoming racing season. Abarth’s ‘scorpio’ logo will accompany them on the front hull of their Yamaha YZR-M1 throughout the thrilling 18-round challenge, from the first round in Losail (Qatar) on March 26th all the way through to the last Grand Prix in Valencia (Spain) on November 12th.

The two brands’ striving for greatness in motorsports is further highlighted off the track by their collaboration on exciting cars such as the Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition, with tuned engine power from 140 to 160hp and an unmistakable racing sound, and the even more powerful Abarth 695 biposto Yamaha Factory Racing Edition that comes equipped with a 190hp engine and a special white and blue livery.

The joint effort between Yamaha and Abarth has also led to the creation of the Yamaha XSR 900 Abarth. This lightweight, high-performance café racer design is the first motorbike born from the partnership between the brands and Yamaha’s Faster Sons programme. Its dynamic grey livery with red trim, that reflects the Yamaha XSR style, also adorns the Abarth 695 XSR Yamaha. This new limited numbered edition from the Scorpio Brand comes in a hatchback and a cabrio version, 695 units of each. The new special series also features an extensive use of carbon fibre components, including a carbon fibre front cowl, front fender and the seat cover of the motorcycle, which emphasises the affinity between the Yamaha XSR and the Abarth 695 XSR Yamaha.

The car and the Yamaha XSR900 Abarth also share a lightweight Akrapovi? exhaust system, a racing derived component that adds personality and sound, as well as performance. The defining signature for the ‘695’ is the ‘XSR’ logo on the tailgate.
